What is a cloud based software?

Cloud-based computing allows users access to software applications that run on shared computing server resources (for example, processing power, memory, and disk storage) via the Internet. The offering of software and servers through the internet is also called Software as a Service (SaaS). ChiroSpring is both a SaaS and a Billing Services as a Service (BSaaS) provider.

The quickest way to tell if a software platform is cloud-based is to ask a simple question of the software vendor: "Do I have to download any software from you?" If the answer is yes, the system is not cloud based. The system being offered can still connect to the internet, but not through common browsers and not without losing a lot of advantages of true cloud based software.

Be careful, there are unscrupulous vendors in this market.
