AI transcription is not supported in other browsers.
Minimum Device Requirements
Devices must meet the following minimum requirements to use AI transcription. Devices below these specifications may experience lag, dropped audio, or reduced transcription accuracy.

- ChromeOS (Chromebook Plus models recommended)

Recommended Device Specifications
For clinics using AI transcription regularly or running multiple browser tabs and clinical tools at the same time, the following specifications are strongly recommended.

Microphone Requirements
Microphone quality plays a significant role in transcription accuracy.
Minimum
- Built-in laptop microphone in a quiet room
Recommended
- USB headset microphone or USB desktop microphone
- Noise-canceling microphone when available
- Consistent microphone placement during visits
Not Recommended
- Speakerphone-style microphones
- Distant room microphones
- Unstable Bluetooth microphones
Internet Connection Requirements
A stable internet connection is required for AI transcription.
Minimum
- 10 Mbps download speed
- 5 Mbps upload speed
Recommended
- Wired Ethernet or strong, reliable Wi-Fi connection
Providers can test their internet speeds using the following tool:

If speeds are below the minimum requirements or fluctuate significantly, transcription quality may be affected.
Chromebook Usage
Chromebook Plus devices are supported for AI transcription when used with Google Chrome.
Clinics using Chromebooks should ensure:
- The device meets Chromebook Plus performance standards
- ChromeOS is fully up to date
- An external USB microphone is used for best results
Best Practices for Optimal Transcription
- Conduct visits in a quiet room with minimal background noise
- Avoid overlapping speech when possible
- Use one active transcription session at a time
- Close unused browser tabs and applications during visits
- Confirm the correct microphone is selected in Chrome settings
Troubleshooting Performance Issues
If transcription accuracy or performance is inconsistent:
- Confirm Google Chrome is fully updated
- Verify the correct microphone is selected in Chrome
- Test internet speed and stability
- Close unused tabs or applications
- Try using an external USB microphone
Most common: browser mic permission is blocked.
In Chrome, click the lock icon next to the URL.
- Select Site Settings.
- Set Microphone to Allow.
- Refresh the page.
Browser is allowed, but mic still doesn’t work
Windows
- Open Settings - Privacy & Security - Microphone.
- Toggle Allow apps to access your microphone On.
- Ensure your browser (e.g., Chrome) is enabled.
macOS
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
- Check your browser (e.g., Chrome) to grant access.
ChiroSpring AI is using the wrong microphone
- In Chrome: ⋮ Menu - Settings - Privacy and Security - Site Settings - Microphone, then choose the correct device from the dropdown.
- Check your OS sound settings and set the desired mic as the default input.
- In the AI Scribe window, click the Settings icon in the top‑right and choose your mic.
